God’s View On The Law Of Attraction
Two words which, biblical speaking, are diametrically opposed to one another. A concept foreign to most Christians who are aware that the Bible prohibits the use of witchcraft in both Old and New Testaments. In fact, if you ask most people they would probably say there is no such thing as Christian Witchcraft. The original creators of the law of attraction going back to the 1880’s including Prentice Mulford,James Allen, Thomas Troward, William Walker Atkinson, Bruce McClellan, Wallace Wattles, Napoleon Hill, Earl Nightingale, and W. Clement Stone promoted the belief that this is a universal law in which you attract only what you are thinking about. Modern LOA proponents such as Rhonda Byrne, Jack Canfield, Bob Proctor, John Assaraf, Joe Vitale, The Hicks family, and many others have stated similar beliefs.
I’ve found that a variant on some Jungian psychology, referred to as ‘archetype’ work (ref Edwin Steinbrecher’s Inner Guide Meditation) have had literally mind-blowing ‘reality-effects’ when done properly. The psychological resistance to doing them once the ego figures this out is another story, but as a mental tech of sorts it’s quite impressive. I am not sure why this works, though; perhaps the ‘dream symbol’ amounts to a form of inner psychotherapy that re-tunes one’s attention and inspiration. Some people attribute something cosmic to it; and it’s fun and less limited to use that model; but I don’t really know. I’m more a tech than anything else though; if it works, I’m good with that; theory can come later.
To me, the highest calling in life is to live for Jesus Christ. Our Pluralistic culture says that spirituality is a smorgasbord…”I’ll take a little Buddhism, mixed in with a little Hedonism, mixed in with a lite New Age, and still call myself a Christian. Biblical Christianity teaches that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. And no man comes to the Father except through Jesus Christ.” Exclusive…yes, but also Truth. The Secret attempts to tap into life truths from a non-Christian perspective. And since Christianity is truth, The Secret falls short of the mark.
You may be a smart man in some areas, but obviously not in all. A smart man will only talk about things that they are an expert on. I thought you taught that yourself. My friend you lost all my respect. You should never bad mouth something that you obviously have very little knowledge in. The movie The Secret” barely touched on the actual laws of attraction. It’ was a bit of a preview, I would say. Do your research my friend before you speak and make yourself a fool.
To the first poster commenting that the concepts in The Secret are already to be found in the Bible, the Bible differs is that it contains clear checks against individualism and materialistic self-interest which The Secret does not (The Secret in fact, encourages these, since it makes no reference to ethics) in the ten commandments as well as Jesus’ teachings.
For the time being, take on board these ideas and see if they help you see a new form of truth. I encourage you to seek more information and study the resources I’ve referenced to come to your own conclusions. These ideas can help you realize a form of positive change in your life that transcends anything physical, which is truly the highest form of change you can ever experience.
As implied by the title Word of Faith,” the supporters of this movement believe that faith works like a mighty power or force. Through faith we can obtain anything we want — health, wealth, success, or whatever we please. However, this force is released only through the spoken word. As we speak words of faith, power is discharged to accomplish our desires.
